Weiser Area Memories Facebook Group – Now our favorite website has a companion Facebook Group of the same name – the perfect place to start or join a discussion, or add more information about the 1200+ names and linked pages of information.
Metropole – John Fagerstedt opened his cigar store and pool hall in the old Wheaton Theater Building in 1911, then 6 years later, moved to the IOOF Building at State & West Idaho Streets, where he expanded the business into a full cafe, pool room, cigars, tobacco, fountain and sporting goods business, which he operated until his death in 1946. (Published 4/24/2024)
The Merc – a grand part of downtown Weiser, located at State & West Main for 38 years, from 1949-1987. The story of how it all started with the purchase of C.C. Anderson’s Department Store and leading to the final finish that closed the store and it’s sale to Peoples Furniture. (Published 3/9/2024)
–  Rose Marie (Yancy) ReidWeiser’s own fashion queen, was a swimsuit designer and businesswoman whose innovative styling put her at the top of the swimwear industry. (Published 2/17/2024)
Days of Yore – meaning “a long time ago,” is a new page that contains links to 8 stories of Old Weiser History, covering from 1878 to the 1920-30s, and includes the Old Town fire and the move to West Weiser near the Depot, the Weiser AcademyIntermountain Institute, plus lots of Area Pioneers and their Historic Houses. If you love stories of old Weiser History, then this is for you. (Added 2/8/2024)
Local History of Weiser – Written in 1904, this story details living and working in Old Town Weiser City, before, during and after the devastating fire of 1890. Follow the push to move the town westward to where it is now. (Published 1/30/2024)
Weiser Academy – what was it like going to school in the late 1890s and early 1900s? Find out with this fascinating story of student life at the Weiser Academy, from it’s humble beginnings in 1891, until 1902 when it merged with the Intermountain Institute. (Published 1/26/2024)
D.E. (David Edger) Johns – moved to Weiser from the farm in 1921, purchased a harness shop which he renamed into D.E. Johns & Son Harness Store, then later expanded into Johns Leather Goods and purchased the Peacock Building in 1944. (Published 12/15/ 2023)
Harris & Dean, Saddle & Harness Shop – possibly the Harness Shop that D.E. Johns purchased in 1921, that eventually become Johns Leather Goods. (Published 12/11/2023)
Globe Furniture – follow this well known store’s history from it’s beginning around 1900, through several moves, ending up at State & West Commercial Streets, and then the sale of the building to Hansen’s Furniture Store in 1965, followed by a  disastrous fire in 1969. (Published 12/09/2023)
Weiser Memories is a Community Resource that allows people who currently live, or have lived in Weiser, Idaho, an opportunity to collaborate in forming the content and posting that information to our website.
Weiser Memories is also a Searchable, Alphabetized Archive that contains the Names and any Available Information for all of the People, Places, and Events, that have since the 1880s shown their importance to the establishment and continuation of Weiser’s history and culture.
Imagine if you will – all in one place – Weiser: Searchable & Alphabetized.
With A-Z Lists of Names, that when clicked, will open a linked page for that Name, and display all of the History and Memories that have been entered or submitted, plus offer the ability for Weiser-ites to post what they know about that Name’s History and their Memories of it, so everyone else can read and enjoy it too.
There are currently many New Names & Linked Pages being added each day, and some don’t open to pages yet containing History & Memories.
Not wanting Visitors to waste time clicking on Names without any information  – each Name ends in a (number),  where (0) = No Info or Resources, (1) = Basic Info with 1 Resource, (2) = Basic Info with 2 Resources, (3) = Basic Info with 3 Resources, (+) = Resources contain Extra Information.
If you know the Name of a PersonPlace or Event and its not in that Category’s A-Z List, then suggest it, we’ll create a new page where you can archive your own History and Memories.
Since I’ve been away from Weiser for almost 60 years, my memory has a big gap – I’m constantly adding what info I do remember, or have found using my BFF, Google.
