Alice Jane (Church) Bixler

Obituary

Nov. 27, 1950 – June 6, 2022
Buried At Brownlee Cemetery
Alice Jane Bixler, 71, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Sweet, Idaho, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. She was the daughter of Lloyd Harvey and Alice (Bucholz) Church. Jane was born on November 27, 1950, in Emmett, Idaho. Jane was united in marriage to Howard Lee Bixler of Wheaton, Missouri. He survives.
Jane enjoyed working as a security guard for General Dynamics of Joplin. She also enjoyed cooking, but her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. Jane relocated to take on a more active role in her grandchildren’s lives, attending all their school functions and activities. Jane was a precious woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Some words from her grandchildren: Grandma loved to make jewelry. She loved roses and the color red. She loved to cook for us all. Those biscuits and gravy were the best! She always made our birthday cakes no matter how crazy our ideas were. She loved to spend time with us. She always came to our ball games, concerts and anything we had going on. Grandma taught us to play dominos and rummy. She took us all over Sweet and Dry Buck on her four-wheeler. Whatever we needed, she was there for us. To us, she will always be our “Pistol Packin’ Grandma”! We love you so much and will never forget you.

Survivors include husband Howard Lee Bixler of Joplin, children Alice Haverly (Branden) of Joplin and Joy Bixler of Joplin, grandchildren Alice Paige, Rilee and Landen, siblings Kurt Church (Betty Jane) of Clatskanie, Oregon, Ray Church (Sharon) of Emmett, Idaho, Elsie Brown (Stan) of Emmett, Idaho, Harvey Church (Myra) of Sweet, Idaho, Linda Bromgard (Mel) of Sweet, Idaho, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Harvey and Alice Church, Jane was preceded in death by her daughter Abby Lee Bixler in 2018.
Memorial services will be held on July 30, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Brownlee Cemetery, Brownlee, Idaho.
