DePartee Drug Store

Remodeling Begins

WEISER — Work of remodeling a room in the Sommer Building, which will house the new Rexall Drug Store,is being hurried along by carpenters and other artisans, and it is expected the place will be in readiness for occupancy and opening for business about Nov. 15.

The store will be operated by Earl Departee, formerly of Star. It will be Weiser’s third drug store.

NEW STORE TO OPEN (The Statesman Idaho Wire)

WEISER — Announcement was made Tuesday that the new Rexall Drug Store, which is owned and will be operated by Earl Departee, formerly of Star, will be opened for business today. The store is established in a corner room of the Sommer Building, facing on State Street.

Obituary

Sept. 28, 1904 – Sept. 12 1996

Earl Nelson DePartee, 91, died Thurs- day, Sept. 12, 1996, in a local care facility, with his beloved and loving wife, Irene, at his side.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Meridian, with the Rev. Timothy Ritchey presiding. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. Services are under direction of the Cloverdale Funeral Home.

Earl was born Sept. 28, 1904, at Lapwai, Idaho, the son of the Rev. Joseph Nelson DePartee and Dolly Rowland DePartee. A lifelong resident of Idaho, he was raised in the small towns of Gilbert and Troy in northern Idaho, and after moving to southern Idaho, attended schools in Star, and in Vale, Ore. He received a degree in pharmacy from Capital College of Pharmacy in Denver, Colo., in 1930, and worked at Ballou-Lattimer’s in Boise and Orville Jackson’s in Eagle before opening his own drug store in Star.

Earl married Irene T. House on May 25, 1938, at Caldwell. In 1945 they moved to Weiser where he owned and operated DePartee Rexall Drug Store for 28 years. Earl was a member of Sigma AlphaPhi, the Society of American Pharmacists, and was a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Weiser. Earl and Irene had many good friends in Weiser, and though they moved from there several years after retirement, that small community with its many good people was always considered “home.”

Earl is survived by his wife, Irene, and daughter, Shari DePartee of Boise; his daughter and son-in-law, Miada and Dr. Del Daniel of San Jose, Calif.; his brother, Wallace DePartee of Boise; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchil- dren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph; his sisters, Grace, Maude, Stella, Twilla and Hilda; and by Miada’s mother, Ella Newman DePartee.

Earl, with his quiet strength, dry wit and constant caring, will be sorely missed by his family and friends all who knew and loved him, but we know he is at peace, free from suffering, and in the care of a Loving God.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cloverdale Funeral Home.
