Calvin Carl Reed

Obituary

Class of 1972
Jan. 10, 1954 – Jan. 22, 2022
Garden City, Idaho – Calvin Carl Reed passed away at home in his sleep on January 22, 2022, at the age of 68.
Calvin was born on January 10, 1954, in Flint, Michigan, to Doris Dill and Alva Reed. As a teen, he moved to Weiser, Idaho, where he graduated from Weiser High in 1972. Eventually meeting the love of his life, Susan Nash, the couple married in 1980 at the Boise Train Depot and later settled in Meridian, ID. Together they had a son, Jeffrey Reed, to which Calvin was a loving and devoted father. Later in life, Susan’s health began to decline, but Cal made sure to make his love known to her.
Anyone who met Calvin will agree that his heart was made of gold. From the moment he met you, you had a friend for life. He was part of The Order of Eagles, the Elks, and the Optimists. He attended Bible Study at St. Mark’s Catholic Church and Sunday services at Saint Paul Baptist Church.
He spent time working as Santa Claus, but the majority of his career was in the car business. He spent nearly 20 years at Bob Rice Ford in Boise, then moved on to Main Street Motors and later Larry H Miller.
In his free time, Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his granddaughter. He enjoyed watching any sport involving a Michigan team, but he especially enjoyed a good football game, including University of Michigan, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions.
Nothing that I can write in this message can express the sadness and emptiness left in the world by Cal’s passing. Please take a moment to hug your loved ones and let them know how much you love them because tomorrow is never promised.
Calvin was preceded in death by his dad Alva, mom Doris, and sister Nome. He is survived by his wife Susan K Reed, child Jeffrey (Cassandra) Reed, granddaughter Jocelyn Reed, and Niece Kelsey Field.
A celebration of life is to be held at a later date. To request information or share condolences, email to calvin-reedmemorial@gmail.com or write to 16429 N Elderberry Cir, Nampa ID 83651.
