Clarence Link, Jr.
Clarence David Link Jr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at his ranch home above Sweet, Idaho on July 17, 2006.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2006, at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Burial will be in the Brownlee Cemetery above Sweet. A reception will be served at the Syringa Hall in Sweet following the services.
Clarence was born on February 5, 1926, to Clarence Sr. and Anna Link in Casper, Wyoming. The family homesteaded in Savageton, Wyoming, and eventually followed the work needed to provide for the family. They traveled down into New Mexico, up to Montana, had a home and grocery store in Chester, Washington, lived in Kamiah, Idaho, moved to Weiser, Idaho, where they lived and ranched in the Mann Creek area, and in 1947 they moved to Brownlee, Idaho above Sweet, where they called it home.
He graduated from Weiser High School in 1943. Clarence joined the Army in 1950 and served through 1952 and went into the Army Reserve until 1956. While there, he forged lasting friendships and countless memories.
In 1957, Clarence met his sister’s friend, Lorna Schlund, on the ranch, and after a whirlwind courtship, they were married on July 6, 1957. Clarence and Lorna had four children born to them. They were married for 49 wonderful years. During this time, Clarence proved to be a devoted husband, father, friend, and neighbor. He loved people and never met a stranger. He loved ranching and cowboying. He loved to paint, and his artwork depicted scenes from his memories. He was a talented woodcarver, always reflecting his unique sense of humor. Of all his talents, which were many, music is what he loved. Clarence and Lorna shared this love of music throughout their years. Clarence was a master of many trades. He was a trusted friend and neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved to visit and always enjoyed good conversation.
Clarence was a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho.
Clarence was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorna, his parents, and a granddaughter.
He is survived by his brothers, Jack Link and Larry Link, both of Ontario, Oregon; his sisters, Betty Potter of Emmett and Dorothy Fraundorf of Boise; his four children, Christine (Joe) Bryson, Joanne (Rod) Lakey, Rick (Joyce) Link, and Laurie Link; his ten grandchildren, Zeb Lanham, Matt Bryson, Klay Lanham, Dustyn Vaughn, Cyndy Bryson, Tylee Lanham, David Bryson, Jessica Lakey, Brady Link, and Christopher Bryson.
Memorials may be made in his name to a favorite charity.
