Charles Arthur Rogge, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011. He was born on January 4, 1924, in Weiser, Idaho, to Margery and John Rogge. Chuck, as he was called by his friends, was raised by his grandfather, George W. Luck, and graduated from Weiser High School in 1942. After spending three years in England with the Air Force, he returned home. Charles graduated from the University of Idaho in 1950, moved to Boise, and he enjoyed the rest of his life living in this area. He married Amy Allman in 1956. They raised one daughter, Melissa. Charles worked for the State of Idaho, retiring in 1976. Chuck grew up spending summers in McCall, ID, on his grandfather’s land, Lucks Point. He had vast knowledge of Idaho history and geography, ranging all across our great state. He will be remembered as a legendary storyteller by all his family and friends.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Margery McKennie, his wife of 40 years, Amy, and his brother John D. Rogge.
He is survived by his daughter Melissa Drake, grandchildren Benjamin, Anna, and Rebecca Drake, great-granddaughter Leah Hollis, sister-in-law Bernice Allman, niece Carol Mosley, sister-in-law Virginia Rogge, and nephew Eric Rogge, all from Boise, and numerous relatives out of state.
Services will be held at Summers Funeral Home Boise, ID on Friday, February 4, 2011, at 3:00 PM.
