Services for Clarence Whitney Chandler, 82, of Nampa and formerly of Weiser, who died on Monday, Oct. 14, at the Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Nampa Ninth Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 504 11th Ave. N., with Bishop Darius T. Bailey officiating.  Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser at 2 p.m.  Services and interment are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Mr. Chandler was born May 12, 1903, in Millville, Cache Co., Utah.  At an early age, he moved with his family to Elgin, Ore.  In 1916, they moved to Weiser.  He married Franka May Nitcher on Feb. 5, 1927, at Boise and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple in September of 1932.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Weiser

He worked at the Washington Hotel, for 24 years, retiring as the manager.  He and his wife then owned and operated the Golden Eagle Grill and then the Greyhound Bus Depot for a combined 21 years.  In 1969, they moved to Nampa.  They worked together as custodians at the LDS church building on 11th Ave. N. for 6 1/2 years.  He was an active member of the LDS Church and most recently the Nampa Ninth Ward.  Among his many church activities, he loved to teach and sing.  He was a past member of the Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Knife and Fork Club in Weiser.
He is survived by his wife of Nampa; a son, Dr. Jeffrey L. Chandler of Eagle; three daughters, Joyce Haverfield of Missoula, Mont., Lynn Norton of Nampa and Ada Ballantyne of Nyssa, Ore.; 25 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until 9 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Primary Children’s Hospitals, 320 12th Ave., Salt Lake City, Utah 84103 or flowers may be sent.
