Graveside services for Mabel Gertrude (Cope) Smith, 84, of 428 East Main,, Weiser, who died Wednesday at a Boise nursing home followed an extended illness, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Cemetery at Weiser by the Rev. Marvin H. Blake. Arrangements are under the direction of Gibson Funeral Home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1885, at Weiser and was graduated from Weiser High School in 1905. She was married to F. Rollin Smith, April 29, 1910, at Weiser. He preceded her in death in 1958. They owned and operated a wholesale candy, cigarette and food business and a potato chip factory, before retiring in 1947. She was a well known vocalist in the Weiser area.
She was a member of the Deal Memorial Methodist Church of Weiser, the P.E.Ο. and the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jean Abrams, Woodland Hills, Calif., Shirley A. Cole, Payette, and Phyllis S. McClenahan, Boise; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to the music department at the College of Idaho in Caldwell.
