Mrs. Delaplaine, who lived at 1020 S. Harvard road, had suffered a heart attack in April, 1951, but after treatment her condition improved until the fatal attack.
She was the widow of Roy W. Delaplaine who was a member of the physical education department of the Philadelphia school system for many years.

After giving up her teaching duties in schools, Mrs. Delaplaine instructed in private piano lessons for several years at her home. She returned to teaching in 1949 at the Swarthmore Elementary School where she remained until becoming ill in 1951.
The Delaplaine family had lived at 106 Cornell av. in Swarthmore for more than 30 years, but Mrs. Delaplaine recently had moved to 1020 S. Harvard road with her son, John.
Surviving are the three sons, Dr. Delaplaine, John and Dr. Richard Delaplaine, the latter also of Swarthmore; a sister, Mrs. Robert E. Merrick, of Pasadena, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Watson, of Idaho, and David Watson, of Arlington, Va., and two grandchildren.
