She owned the Blossom Shop and as a florist she was acquainted with most of the town. Thelma was either working, gardening or singing. All her children were taught to sing and play an instrument, they grew up without TV but there was always music in the home. Music lessons and school band and choir were a most important priority for her children.
Thelma was a great list maker, first on her daily list was who to pray for and who she could help on that day. Lists were also made for the children, inside or outside chores that had to be done before they had free time to play.
