Carpenter Family History

Linda (Carpenter) Peterson has written many stories about the families of her ancestors – Glascock Family, Scheloske Family, Nesbit Family and Carpenter Family. She has also written about the first graduation at Weiser Junior High School, and her time as a student at Sunnyside Grade School.

Carpenter Family History.
We start with Obadiah Carpenter II. Born February 16,1707 in Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts Bay. He passed away on January 6,1764 at Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts Bay.
He married Bethiah Carpenter on October 11, 1728 at Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts.
She was born on September 23, 1706 in Rehoboth Bristol, Massachusetts Bay. She passed away on January 15, 1788 at Foxborough, Norfolk, Massachusetts.
They had Obadiah Carpenter III.
He was born September 2, 1742 at Harford,Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
He passed away on December 6, 1810 in Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
He married Ama Lee on October 25, 1766 at Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. She was born in 1745 in the state of Massachusetts and passed away on January 13, 1814 in Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

The father and mother of Ama Lee were father Thomas Lee. He was born in 1716 at Burslem, Stanford County, England. He passed away in 1782 at Bristol, Massachusetts.
He married Isabel Sedgewick on February 2, 1748 at Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
She was born March 18, 1723.
Obadiah III and Ama Lee Carpenter had ( I think my great, great, great, great grandfather), Obadiah Carpenter IV. He was born on August 27,1767 at Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He passed away on May 14, 1833 in Pennsylvania.
He married Marcy Tyler on July 9, 1790 Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts
Marcy Tyler was born on November 5, 1769 at Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. She passed away on September 9, 1840 in Greenfield, Lackawanna County, ( I don’t know what state for sure).

The Mother and Father of Marcy Tyler Carpenter. Her father’s name was John Tyler, Jr. he was born on April 25, 1746 in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He passed away on May 27, 1822 at Ararat, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
He married her mother Mercy Thacher on May 14, 1768 at Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Mercy Thacher was born on December 16, 1752 at Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. She passed away on January 14, 1835 in Ararat, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
Obadiah Carpenter IV and Marcy Tyler had my great, great, great grandfather Amherst Carpenter. He was born March 7, 1799 in Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and passed away on October 19, 1877 in Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
Amherst Carpenter married Fanny Sweet on July 12, 1821 at Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
Fanny Sweet was born on October 3, 1801 in Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She passed away on March 13, 1875 in Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.

My great, great, great grandparents Amherst and Fanny (Sweet) Carpenter had my great, great grandfather Lorenzo Dow Carpenter on May 8, 1819, in Harford, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. He passed on May 3, 1902. Burial in Rose Valley Cemetery in Kelso, Cowlitz County, Washington.
Lorenzo Dow Carpenter married my great, great grandmother Emma Acton on July 18, 1862 in Sacramento, California.
Emma Acton Carpenter was born on June 22, 1838 in Manchester,Lancashire County, England, United Kingdom. She passed away on April 5, 1880 in Molalla, Clackamas County, Oregon.

Father and Mother of Emma Acton Carpenter: her father was William Acton, he was born in 1801 in Eccles, Lancashire County, England. No idea when he passed away. He married Mary Ann Hopwood on 1837 in Lancashire County, England. Mary Ann Hopwood Carpenter was born about 1807 in Eccles, Lancashire County, England. She passed away on June 9, 1854 in Wilmslow, Cheshire County, England.
A little history about Lorenzo Dow Carpenter and Emma Acton Carpenter.
Lorenzo Dow Carpenter born on May 8, 1819 in Dutch Pennsylvania, traveled west with Mormon train to Salt Lake City, Utah. Then to San Francisco, California.
His wife Emma Acton was born on June 22, 1838 in England. She emigrated between 1861 – 1862. She came in a boat around Cape Horn to San Francisco, California. They were married in Sacramento on July 18, 1862. They homesteaded in and around the Kelso, Rose Valley County, Washington.
The children they had my great grandfather Lawrence Dow Carpenter born on October 24,1866, in Rose Valley,Cowlitz County, Washington.
They also had Frank Ellsworth Carpenter born in 1864 and passed away in 1958
Calvin Venaldo Carpenter born in 1869 and passed away 1926.
Theodore T. Carpenter born in 1871 and passed away 1955.
Albert Melvin Carpenter born in 1873 and passed away in 1954z
Irvin Chester Carpenter born in 1878 and passed away in 1962.

My great, great grandparents Lorenzo Dow Carpenter and Emma Action Carpenter: had my great grandfather Lawrence Day Carpenter, he was born October 24,1866 in Rose Valley, Cowlitz County, Washington.

My great grandfather Lawrence Day Carpenter married my great grandmother Mary J. Nesbit on November 4,1890 in Kalama, Cowlitz County, Washington.
He passed away on September 4, 1925 in Malheur County, Oregon. Burial in Riverside Cemetery in Payette, Idaho

Mary Jane (Nesbit) Carpenter was born October 22,1872 in Neosho County, Kansas. Mary came West about 1886 and lived in Kelso, Washington. She passed away on July 21, 1957 in Bothell, Washington. Burial at Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Seattle, King County, Washington.

My great grandmother Mary Jane (Nesbit) Carpenter parents were Wesley Meak Nesbit: born in 1832 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He passed away on December 4,1885 in Erie, Neosho County, Kansas.
He married Mary Elizabeth Campbell in Coles, Illinois. She was born in 1836 in Illinois and passed away in 1874 in Illinois.
Father and Mother of Wesley Meak Nesbit were John Nesbit born in U. S and passed away in 1845. He married Catherine Spurgeon on November 20, 1818 in Adams, Ohio. She was born on July 7, 1801 in Adams, Ohio and passed away on February 15,1848 in Batavia, Clermont County, Ohio.
