Gertrude Stringer Gustafsson passed away peacefully after a short illness November 8, 2004, in Fairfield, CA.
Beloved wife of the late Vernon Carl Gustafsson. Loving mother of Christie and her husband, Robert Trapp. Dear stepgrandmother of Stacie Trapp Bass, Robert Trapp and David Trapp. Step great-grandmother of Jessica Alexander and Catharine Adelle Bass. Aunt of Jon Howard and his wife, Sigrid Shepard. Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Edna (Stringer) and George Shepard.
Gertrude was born to Howard and Pearl (Perry) Stringer on October 18, 1908, in Kennewick, Washington.
She graduated from Weiser (Idaho) High School in 1926 and cum laude from the University of Idaho in 1930.
She was employed by the state of California Public Utilities Commission of San Francisco as a legal secretary for many years.
She was a longtime resident of Mill Valley from 1950 to 1997 moving to Fairfield in 1997 and was a former member of the Eastern Star, and a 75-year charter member of Beta Zeta Chapter Alpha Phi Fraternity at the University of Idaho.
No services will be held.
