Lillian Harvey, 86, of Council, died Tuesday, May 3, 1994, in a Council nursing home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Congregational Community Church, Council. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser.

Lillian was born Nov. 10, 1907, at Henley Basin near Weiser, a daughter of Samuel and Cora Waldrup Smith. She grew up and was educated in Weiser, later attending Lewiston Normal School.

She married Earl Newton Harvey on May 15, 1928, at Boise. The couple moved to Council in 1928, where they were involved in ranching. Mr. Harvey passed away in 1944.

She continued the operation of the ranch and began teaching fourth grade at Council. While teaching school, she studied at the College of Idaho, graduating on Oct. 8, 1965, with a B.A. degree. She taught school in Council for 35 years. Upon retirement from teaching, she continued ranching until age 75.

Lillian loved flowers, especially the roses.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Earl of Council and Richard Charles of Alberta, Canada; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
