David Crosby

David Crosby, 67, retired Weiser teacher
Dec. 18, 1931 – Oct. 9, 1999
BOISE — David (Holly) Crosby, 67, of Grangeville, died Thursday at a Boise hospital as a result of a heart attack he suffered Sept. 11.
He was born Dec. 18, 1931, at Jackson Hole, Wyo., to June and Davida Timmons Crosby. At the age of 12, he moved with his family to Little Willow, Idaho, and later to Payette, Idaho, where he graduated from high school.
He attended the College of Idaho and the University of Idaho, where he received his teaching degree. He later earned his master’s degree.
He married Gerrie Hogue in 1954. They later divorced.
Crosby married Donna Wadley-Schnider in 1973. They lived in Weiser, Idaho, where he taught in the Weiser School District. He retired from teaching in 1991.
In addition to teaching he also raised cattle and hay.
After moving to Grangeville in 1994, he would return to Weiser for spring and fall onion farming.
One of his more memorable accomplishments was assisting with the building of the Weiser Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife at Grangeville; two children, Dava Malay of Eagle, Idaho, and Kyle Crosby of Seattle; three stepchildren, Cindi Crumm of Cottonwood, John Schnider of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Jeff Schnider of Spokane; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Glen Crosby of Ontario, Ore., and Owen Crosby of Garden Valley, Idaho; and two sisters, Shirley Munch of Boise and Joyce Green of Burns, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at the Weiser Christian Church at 2 p.m. today.
