John Vining
Services for John M. Vining, 53, of North Fork, Calif., who died Sunday in his home after a short illness, will be conducted at St. David’s Episcopal Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. M. Dale Vandegrift, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at Canyon Hill under the direction of Flahiff Chapel.
Mr. Vining was born July 13, 1915, in Boise, and came with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vining, to Caldwell as a small child. He moved to La Grande, Ore., in 1925, and was graduated from Weiser High School. He was graduated from the College of Idaho in 1950 with a bachelor of arts degree in music and education. He was married Dec. 24, 1950, in Nampa to Jean Keller. He had been a school teacher since 1950, and at his death was a teacher in the North Fork Union School. He also attended the University of Washington, and took graduate work at the College of Idaho, from which he received a master of arts degree.
He was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, Weiser Lodge No. 23, AF&AM, Phi Delta Kappa education fraternity, the California Teachers Organization, and had been a member of the Weiser Junior Chamber of Commerce. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Vining are six children, Paul, John II, Tamara, Kathleen, Mettie, and Dena, all at home, and a cousin Mrs. Mildred Chapin of Boise.
