July 24, 1933 – Oct. 17, 2006
Gerald Lee Hagans, 73, of Weiser, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Weiser due to the effects of cancer. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Weiser Third Ward with Bishop Timothy Erhard conducting. Interment will follow at Mann Creek Cemetery, Weiser. A visitation for family and friends will be from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and from 1-1:45 p.m., prior to funeral services. Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Gerald was born July 24, 1933 at home on Mann Creek. He was the third child of Ernest Axton Hagans and Winifred Gertrude Marr. He attended all eight grades at Saling School and graduated from Weiser High School. He attended two years at the University of Idaho majoring in Agriculture. He has always had a love of the farm and orchard. When he was 10 years old he hauled tons of cherries out of the orchard. He didn’t have enough of his own to do; he also did custom hay on the side.
On June 28, 1954 he married his high school sweetheart, Carmen Anderson, in the Logan, UT Temple. This union was blessed with three beautiful children, Willa, Chris and Pat. Gerald became a ham radio enthusiast in 1957. Attaining the classification of X-tra, the top class that can be achieved. The home place looks like an antenna farm. This was his love. He had been President of the Treasure Valley Radio Club twice. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a temple worker in the Boise Temple for two years and held several different positions in the church.
He is survived by his wife Carmen; his daughter Willa (Doug) Renken of Kuna, ID; his sons, Christopher (Michelle) Hagans and Patrick (Tasha) Hagans of Weiser; eight grandchildren, Rachelle (Mark) Savage of Ontario, OR, Alicia (Derek) Thompson of Michigan, Cristan, Matthew and Kassidy Hagans of Weiser, Sean, Sarah, and Cameron Hagans of Weiser; and one sister, Jeanette Smith of Nampa, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Winifred Hagans, one sister, Charlotte Stanford and one niece, Josephine Wilkerson.
Gerald Lee Hagans was husband of Carmen Anderson (1952) and father to Chris Hagans (1979)
