Beatrice (Fliegel) McIntyre

Obituary

Class of 1940
Dec. 17, 1921 – Sept. 9, 2013
Beatrice Olivia McIntyre, 91, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013. She had been in frail health and after a fall severely shattering her hip, it was just too much to overcome. Her goal of making it to 100 wasn’t to be.
Beatrice Fliegel
Bea was born in Weiser, December 17, 1921 to George and Alice Fliegel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Norman and her husband of over 70 years, Jewell L. McIntyre.
She is survived by her sister, Arlene Grindstaff; her daughters, Cheri Ott (Lawrence), Kathy Talley (Butch), all of Weiser and Jodi Scheloske (Dave), Livermore CA; numerous grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren.
The following is a tribute Kathy read to her mother this past Mother’s Day. The I and me has been changed to we, us and our, it says what all her daughters felt.
Beatrice “Bea” McIntyre
“Dear Mom, What a gal! What a wonderful Mother. From building your first home almost single handed while Dad was overseas in World War II, owning and running a hardware business, making the best chocolate cream pies in the world – in fact, in our book you are the best cook we know. We can’t think of anything you were not good at. A skilled seamstress, a great sense of style and decorating, an excellent wood finisher and painter. We keep thinking of all the projects you’ve helped us on that couldn’t have been done without your help. We inherited so much from you: the never giving up attitude, a love of almost anything blooming and four legged animals (maybe not the horses we had as kids.) Thank you for always supporting us no matter what the endeavor. Thank you for helping us raise our children. Thank you for everything. You are quite the woman. Happy Mother’s Day Love, Your Daughters”
Mom, you will always be with us. Every time we plant a flower, tackle a big project, cook a wonderful meal, we will think of you. One of your best “sayings” you had was “It’s a great life if you don’t weaken”. You did your best not to weaken. That extra bright star in the western sky meant to us that you were on your way to heaven. You deserve the rest.
Thank you to Dr. Wooten, Patty Shearer and Lynn Andrews for your help and loving care.
Arrangements under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.
