Vern Elliott
Vern Thomas Elliott died Monday, May 20, 1996, in a Boise veterans hospital of a lengthy illness. Services will not be held at his request.
He was born May 20, 1922, at Mammoth, Utah, to the late LaVal and LaBerta Elliott. He grew up in Weiser, Idaho, with his brothers and sister Opal, Ted, Geneva, and Karl. He graduated from Weiser High School. He loved sports and was active in baseball and football while in school.
He was in the 183rd Field Artillery Battalion (Army), a frontline soldier in six major battles from Normandy Beach to Berlin. He received a decoration for European-African-Middle Eastern service and the Purple Heart.
Vern loved the outdoors, which included hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his children, Doreen, Kirk, and JoAnn; his daughter-in-law, Ann; grandchildren, Misty, Tarra, LeAnn, Erica, Jerimiah, Lucas, and Brett; sisters, Opal of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Geneva of Boise; and brother, Karl of Turner, Oregon.
We love him for being a good husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed so very much!
