COLUMBIA FALLS — Archie M. Larson, 70, a retired nuclear engineer, died Thursday at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls of pneumonia. At his request, no public services will be held, and burial of ashes will take place later near Weiser, Idaho. Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is in charge.
He was born Oct. 19, 1922, in Weiser, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He married Maryhelen Mulhall in Washington, D.C., and she preceded him in death.
After receiving a degree from the University of Idaho, Larson completed nuclear training at Oak Ridge, Tenn. Later, he worked around the country on various nuclear energy plants.
He is survived by a son, Earl A. Larson of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, S. Androna Hemmings of Great Falls; a sister, Frances Maine of Idaho; and four grandchildren.
