WEISER — The Weiser Board of Trustees has upheld its earlier decision to fire Willis Rea, junior high school social science instructor.
The board sat as a hearing board on May 10 and had 15 days to uphold its previous action not to renew Rea’s contract.
Dr. Phillip Ulmer, board chairman, said Wednesday the board had reviewed all of the evidence presented by both sides before making the final decision.
Rea, who has been an eighth-grade social science instructor at the junior high since 1969, said he was not sure what further action he would take.
“Many people who attended the hearing thought our case was stronger and that we should have won,” Rea said.
The district had alleged that Rea was not providing a positive atmosphere in the classroom, had poor student rapport and student discipline, and that he prepared inadequately for classes.
Willis Lee Rae, 68, Weiser died in the VA Nursing Home. Services Pending, Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser.
