CHANGE ALL AROUND IN BANK OF WEISER
A.B. Anderson and Son Dispose of Interests to Louis Sommer and Retire — New Officers and Directors Elected
The annual meeting of the directors and stockholders of the Bank of Weiser was held Monday evening pursuant to call. Considerable business of importance was transacted, and several changes in the bank officials occurred, the most notable being the retirement of A.B. Anderson and his son, W.L. Anderson. The Andersons have sold their entire interests in the bank to Louis Sommer of Baker City and have severed their connections to engage in other business.
The new officers elected are President, E.M. Barton; Vice President, John W. Ayers; Cashier, Louis Sommer; Assistant Cashier, O.M. Hixon; and Second Assistant, J.W. Barton. The directors elected are E.M. Barton, J.W. Ayers, B.L. Steeves, Louis Sommer, C.M. Hixon, F.L. Taylor, Sol Barnett, Morris Sommer, and George Nesbit. The capital stock of the bank is $50,000.
Former Cashier Anderson will remain with the institution for the next thirty days to assist in arranging affairs and until his successor, Mr. Sommer, familiarizes himself with the work. The change which has taken place in this prominent institution has created considerable surprise, although it has been known for some time that a change of some kind would take place.
Mr. Sommer who has purchased the Anderson interests and is elected cashier, needs no introduction to the citizens of Weiser and Washington County, as he is well-known to all. He was previously engaged in the mercantile business in Weiser and later moved to Baker City where he followed the same pursuit for a long time and later retired from active business. He is a shrewd business man and has a host of friends in this section who gladly welcome him and his estimable family back to Weiser.
Just what business Messrs. Anderson and son will engage in is not yet fully determined, but the Signal is pleased to note that they will remain in Weiser and Washington County with those interests they have been actively identified with for so long. However, it is reported that A.B. Anderson intends going to California to reside
