C.C. (Columbus Charles) Anderson

Death Takes Founder of Department Chain
BOISE, Idaho (AP)—Columbus Charles Anderson, the founder of the C.C. Anderson Department Store chain in the Intermountain and Pacific Northwest states, died today at the age of 85. Anderson, who was still serving as chairman of the board for the 12-store chain, had been hospitalized for four weeks due to a heart and circulatory ailment.
Anderson opened his first store in Boise in 1902. The chain was sold to Allied Stores in 1949. He was born near Osceola, Missouri, and had no children.

C.C. Anderson was mentioned in the newspapers as early as 1894 owning Golden Rule stores. 
C.C. Anderson was a partner with E.H. Gainy in The Famous Store at Weiser in 1899.
He also bought out Boise Shoe Company in 1899.
C.C. purchased Booth Mercantile at Twin Falls in 1932.
C.C. bought Wulff Hardware at Weiser in 1944.
