From Frank Slade, who was here the first of the week from Mineral, we learn that Charles B. Gunn died at that camp last Saturday, November 30, 1889. Mr. Slade did not know the cause of his death, but supposed that it was [typhoid] fever.
Mr. Gunn was a prospector and miner, and, we believe, was one of the first discovers of Mineral, and one of the locators of the Daniel Boone mine. He was a bright and intellectual man, and if he had a personal enemy we never heard of him. He was his worst enemy, like many others, Charley Gunn was well liked by all who knew him, and many will say with us, “May he rest in peace.”
From Weiser Leader, Frank Slade, December 6, 1889
