Obituary

Class of 1949
Sept. 26, 1930 – Mar. 29, 2014
<center< Charles Rebman
Charles David Rebman, Born September 26, 1930, went home to the care of his Heavenly Father March 29, 2014.
Charles was born the 4th child of Karl and Velda Rebman at their home on a farm in Norton, Kansas.
He arrived after 2 brothers, Edward who died at birth and Doyal and a sister Grace. Two younger sisters Lorene and Carla joined the family in later years.
In the years that followed, the family moved out west to Gooding, Idaho, Baker City, Oregon and finally settling in Weiser, Idaho. During the families many moves they lived in some interesting places such as an abandoned church and an old cheese factory.
While in Gooding the family worked for a local farmer picking potatoes. The oldest children made enough money to buy a pair of shoes and a winter coat for school. When Charles was about 12 the family moved to Baker City, Oregon. Charles was active on the play ground and one day fell off the monkey bars and broke both arms. The teacher sent Charles home alone, having to walk several blocks. His father took him to the doctor who confirmed they were both broken. The teacher got a ear full from his father.
The family later moved back to Gooding where they did share crop farming.
In the late 40’s the family moved once again and settled in Weiser where they bought a farm on Monroe Creek. Charles graduated from Weiser high school in 1949. In 1950 he joined the US Air Force where the majority of his tour was spent in Hawaii as a driver for the General who was over the Pacific region, so Charles was able to travel to many countries. He was Honorably discharged in 1954.

Charles came back to Weiser where he settled and married Donna Krause on Christmas day 1954, “oh the weather outside was frightful but the wedding was so delightful”. Charles farmed out on the Sunnyside area. They then purchased a farm on the Weiser Flats where they raised their family of 3. Brad, Melodee and Blake, and 400 head of hogs along with the rest of the melee of farmyard animals.
Charles then purchased a salvage yard in Weiser to be run by his son in law.
When the children were grown they sold the farm and purchased a small shoe store in Payette which was later moved to Meridian.
Charles and Donna then purchased a mobile home park in Payette which they ran for several years until the passing of Donna in the spring of 1997.
In his younger years Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter, and in his retirement he continued fishing with Blake and Cheri and other friends as often as possible. He loved the friendly competition of out fishing his companions, which he usually did with a big smile.
Charles loved his family as well as his extended family, and loved the times they all got together for family gatherings, mainly for the food, the family was a bonus.
In the summer of 1997 Charles married Sherry Todd gaining 3 step children, Troy Todd, Roger Todd and Donnette Morgan and eventually settled in Ontario across the street from Blake and Cheri.
Charles is survived by his wife Sherry, son Brad from Boise, son Blake (Cheri) from Ontario, sister Grace Dirk of Hayden, Idaho, sister Lorene Snider of Vashon Island, Washington. 5 grandchildren, Joshua Schmitz, Candace Schmitz, Schaman Hudson, Zachary Hudson and Bryan Rebman, 4 great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Donna, his daughter Melodee, his parents Karl and Velda, his brothers Edward and Doyal and sister Carla.
Arrangements are being handled through Haren Wood Funeral Chapel of Ontario, Oregon.
Memorial services will be held at The Veterans Memorial Hall located at 25 NW 8th St in Ontario on Thursday April 3rd 2014 at 10:30 AM.
A celebration potluck will be shared by those who wish to participate after the memorial. Please bring your favorite dish.
