Dead Ox Flat Pioneer Families

Dead Ox Flat has a special place in my heart and soul, because that’s where I grew up in the 1950s and 60s.
Sitting across the mighty Snake River from the frontier town of Weiser, this Oregon area known as Dead Ox Flat was a highland desert with nothing but dry, hard pack land and sagebrush. This formatable land presented many challenges to it’s early settlers but they persevered and changed this land into some of the best agricultural producing farmland in Eastern Oregon.
Here are 11 stories of those brave Dead Ox Flat Pioneer Families.
