WEISER – Delbert Harold Jackson, 92, of Weiser, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 1988, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser, under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser.
Mr. Jackson was born March 17, 1896, in the Crystal area near Weiser, a son of Alexus and Rebecca Jackson. He attended Weiser schools, graduating from Weiser High School in 1916. He married Pearl Thompson on April 23, 1918, at Weiser. Mr. Jackson entered the US Army in June of 1918, and France and Germany. He was involved in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Following the war, the couple returned to Weiser where they farmed east of town. From 1926 to 1938, they lived in Cambridge, then returned to Weiser where they farmed in the Crystal area for several years. Mr. Jackson worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at Parma for a short time in 1941. Mrs. Jackson died Dec. 7, 1967, at Weiser.
He was a member of the Weiser Christian Church; Masonic Lodge =23, AF & AM; Weiser IOOF Lodge #17; Russell Smith American Legion Post =42; and VFW Post =9088.
Survivors include three sons, Charles of Weiser, Frank of Seattle and Richard of Boise; and a daughter, Barbara Mehlhaff of Weiser. A daughter, Helen Bartenhagen, died Aug. 17, 1952.
The family suggests that memorials may be made in his name to the Idaho State Veterans Home, 320 Collins Road, Boise 83702.
