 WEISER — Services for Dennis “Buzz” Hartnett, 54, Weiser, who died Sunday at a Weiser hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northam-Jones Chapel. Interment with rites by the VFW Post No. 9088 will be conducted at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Dennis “Buzz” Hartnett
He was born April 17, 1922, in Lewiston, son of Timothy Dennis and Martha Hartnett. They moved to Weiser in 1929 and farmed on the Weiser Flat. He attended Haas school and graduated from Weiser High School. He attended the College of Idaho. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in Africa and Italy. He married Betty Pine March 5, 1948, in Winnemucca, Nev. They farmed until 1958. He was Washington County weed control supervisor for nine years. They operated the Montgomery Wards Agency for nine years. He retired and became the manager of the Rolling Hills Golf Course.
He was past director of the Weiser Golf Association, member of the Weiser Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Weiser Merchant Committee and Weiser Industrial Board, member of Veteran of Foreign Wars and past master of the Weiser Flat Grange.
Surviving are his wife, Weiser; a son, Tim, Marlow, England; a daughter, Janice Adams, Boise; five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Langel, Rudyard, Mont., Mrs. George (Marguerite) Speros, Emmett, Mrs. Ann Hampton, Lewiston, Mrs. Evan (Elizabeth) Gheen, Ontario, and Mrs. James (Jill) Shell, Coronado, Calif.; six brothers, Emmett, Gordon, Vern and Richard, all Weiser, Jack, Emmett, and Edward, Arcadia, Calif.; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Contributions may be made to the Weiser Memorial Hospital.
