Fagerstedt Building

335 State Street
Historic Landmark at Weiser To Be Replaced By New Store
WEISER (Special) One of Weiser’s historic landmarks gave way to progress this week when crews started razing the only remaining building that was part the nucleus of the present site Weiser. The frame structure on State Street in the central part of town, will be replaced by a modern store building, John Fagerstedt, owner, announced. Although excavation for a large basement will start as soon as wrecking crews are through, specific plans of the new building were not revealed.
“Judge” Frank Harris, Weiser pioneer and one of the two surviving members of Idaho’s first constitutional convention, and Mrs. Laura Edlin recalled that the building was constructed in the early 1890s to house the Weiser Signal, then published by Ed Lockwood. Judge Harris also maintained his law offices in the building and another attorney later had his headquarters there.
Since that time the building has been occupied by a drug store, recreation parlor, jewelry store, meat market (Korup the Butcher) and many other lines of business. A tire repair shop recently was moved from the location when the owner decided to build a new structure.
