Farber’s Womens Store

2 Stores Move
A deal was completed here Monday which will mean moves to new locations for both the Stanford and Farbers Stores, within the next three months. The Farber’s Store has taken a lease on the Townley Building, the second door south of its present location, and will move there. The Stanford store, now located in the Hughes building, will occupy the space vacated by Farber and the present Farber Room next door, formerly the Weiser Variety Store, will complete the move.
It is expected that the move, which has been under consideration for about a year, will take most of the summer to complete.

WEISER BATTLES $15,000 BLAZE
WEISER (Special) — Weiser’s worst fire in nearly 20 years destroyed an estimated $15,000 worth of stock in two stores Wednesday night and for a time threatened to engulf the city’s entire business district.
Merchandise in L. J. Farber’s ladies’ ready-to-wear store and the People’s Groceteria was destroyed by fire and water, firemen said. No estimate was made on building damage.
The fire, origin of which was not determined, started about 7:30 o’clock in the evening. It was brought under control within a half hour but firemen remained on the scene for nearly two hours.
Stock in a store next to the groceteria was damaged by smoke, as was the stock in Cutting Drug Store, next to the Farber Building. Both the Farber Store and groceteria are located on State street, in the heart of the business district. Lack of wind was attributed by firemen as the factor which prevented spread of the flames.
