Nov. 15, 1927 – July 16, 2018
Genevieve Loraine Witte passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018, in Boise, Idaho. Genevieve was born on November 15, 1927, in Weiser, Idaho. She was the youngest of nine children born to Henry and Myrtle Shaw Witte.
She attended grade school at Eaton School on the Weiser Flat and graduated from Weiser High School in 1945. She was raised on the sheep ranch outside of Weiser that her father purchased after immigrating from Germany in 1911. She retired from Mountain Bell Telephone after 25 years as an operator and supervisor. She belonged to the Pythian Sisters Lodge and to the Eaton Social Circle.
Genevieve and her sister Myrtle were known as the “Witte Sisters” to most people in and around Weiser. They, along with their sister Regina, enjoyed traveling together, going to Nashville, the Vancouver Expo, and went on a Hawaiian cruise among many local trips.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Casper, Oliver, Hank, John, and Franz; her sisters Regina Broadbent, Myrtle Witte, and Thelma Witte; and two nephews David Broadbent and Darwin Witte. She is survived by many nieces and nephews: Frances Meunier, Beverly Witte-Mech, Clint Broadbent, Craig Broadbent, Judy Benton, Kathleen Harris, Darlene Bills, Geraldine Hilt, Neena Moura, Sherry Green, Elaine Newcombe, and Franz Witte Jr.
The family would like to express their thanks to Grace Assisted Living in Boise and to Harrison’s Hope Hospice of Boise. Funeral Services will be at Thomason Funeral Home in Weiser on Friday, July 20, at 11:00 am.
