George Sprinkle
George Adams Sprinkle passed away on January 17, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife Lydia Commisso Sprinkle whom he was married to for fifty five years.
George was born on April 22, 1931 in Tekoa, Washington. The last of eleven children born to Frank and Ethel Sprinkle Shockley. Upon the sudden death of his mother, he was adopted and raised by his aunt and uncle, Eugene and Laura Sprinkle.
He grew up in Weiser, Idaho. He attended the College of Idaho from 1949-1953 and graduated with a BS in Biology Sciences. While attending College he was attached to the Idaho Air National Guard. After college, he served in the United States Navy as a commissioned Intelligence officer and was stationed in Kyoto, Japan.
Upon his return to the USA, he relocated to Seattle to attend graduate School at the University of Washington. His life changed when he met Lydia Commisso. They were married June 30, 1956 at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Seattle, WA.
While starting his young family, he worked at two jobs, Albertson’s as the night manager and Boeing during the day. His career spanned over thirty years in Human Resources Management for Seattle School District and The Boeing Company where retired in 1993.
George was a true gentleman who always put the well being of his wife and children before himself. He had an amazing sense of humor that was defined by his keen wit and contagious laugh that lit up his bright blue eyes. He gave out lots of “second chances” to those who needed them.
George traveled the world with his wife Lydia. One of his special places was their summer home on Lopez Island. George loved his coffee, ice cream, coconut cream pies and Lydia’s Christmas cookies! He was a great father that guided his children with love and strong advice when needed. ” Thank You Dad”
He is survived by his children: Mark Sprinkle (Helen), Lori Kennedy (Tim) Lisa Ferreri (Joe), and George Jr. (Carrie). Along with grandchildren: Shylah, Summer, Ashley, Nicholas, Matthew, Cristina, and Nina and two great grandchildren: Roberto, and Carlo.
Rosary Tonight at 7P.M. at Columbia Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10A.M. at Our Lady Of MT Virgin Church. Interment Holyrood Cemetery.
