Gladys Daisy Stuart, 93, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at a care center in Meridian.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Gladys was born April 30, 1908, in Plattsmouth, Neb., to Hezekiah and Blanche (Shultz) Petty, and in 1913 moved with her family to the Crystal area near Weiser. She was educated in Weiser and attended Lewis and Clark Normal School and later got her degree in 1967 from Boise College. Gladys started her teaching career at a country school on Hogg Creek east of Midvale. She later taught at Sunnyside near Weiser.
On June 4, 1935, Gladys married Roy J. Stuart of Nampa. They lived in the Nampa area before moving to Council in 1941 to ranch. While living on Homet Creek she taught at the Upper Dale School. Gladys and Roy moved to Kuna in 1952 where she taught at Highline school and sixth grade in Kuna. She retired in 1973 to give Roy loving care until he passed away in 1976.  Gladys lived in the Meridian area for the last 45 years. She was a member of the Grange, Rebekah’s, the Meridian Senior Center, and the Cherry Lane Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Kay Stuart, and Bruce and Louise Stuart; eight grandchildren, Neal and Teresa Stuart, Sandy and Randy Davison, Linda and Roger Cada, Teena Stuart, Scott and Karmen Stuart, Lori and Wade Lobato, Travis Stuart, Brian and Mandy Stuart; 15 great-grandchildren, Susan, Marcus, and Eric Stuart, Clint, Tonya, and Clay Davison, Samantha Koch, Payton, Blaine, and Kendall Stuart, Brock, Darrian, and Emily Lobato, Austin, and Nathaniel Stuart.
Also surviving are a brother, Francis Petty of Indian Valley; four sisters, Zella Shoulders of Roseburg, Ore., Blanche Hedberg of Kuna, April Kampeter of Council, and Editha and Kenneth McKinney of Hagerman.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; sister, Nellie Menzel; and brother, Hez.
