He was a friend of my ggg grandfather Vincent Burch from Stevensville, Montana and was the postmaster of Darby, Montana. The town was named after him because they didn’t have a name for the town so Darby stuck. His wife Sarah Rosanna (White) gave birth to their daughter Rosa in Darby and she died as an infant tragically in 1889. A member of the GAR and the picture shown in this memorial was taken with a number of the Veterans at the time including my ggg grandfather.
