Jessy Hall

Obituary

Class of 1926

Oct. 17, 1908 – May 14, 1993

Jessy Jean (Faurot-Hall) Nye Cut Bank, Montana
Jessy Jean Nye, 84, a resident of Cut Bank, Montana since 1985, died May 14, 1993, of natural causes in a Montana hospital.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 12, 1993, at 11 a.m. in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, 83442.
Jessy was born in Boulder, Colorado, on October 17, 1908, a daughter of Frank Eugene and Edna L. Faurot Hall. Her childhood years were spent in Boulder, Colorado, until the Hall family moved to Weiser in 1912. Mrs. Nye graduated from Weiser High School and received her Registered Nurse diploma on November 3, 1929, from St. Alphonsus Hospital School for Nurses in Boise. She was married on October 13, 1933, in Logan, Utah to Dr. William Clinton Nye, a veterinarian. She worked as a Registered Nurse both before and after her marriage.
Jessy and her husband moved to Sweetgrass, Montana in the mid-1930s where Dr. Nye was stationed as the Federal Veterinarian Inspector at the U.S. Customs border-crossing station between the U.S. and Canada. During World War II, when Dr. Nye served as a major in the U.S. Army, Mrs. Nye lived in Rigby, to assist her father-in-law, Dr. Ned O. Nye in his veterinary practice. After the war, the Nyes returned to Sweetgrass where Dr. Nye returned to his position with the Federal Government. Jessy, in addition to keeping up her home and garden, often was called out to be the first emergency medical professional at the scene of severe bodily injuries, as no physician was immediately available in isolated areas. She also assisted at schools, giving eye exams and hearing tests. Jessy and “Bil” Nye for many years enjoyed a fine companionship as they traveled, hunted wild game and game birds, and fished. Mrs. Nye also enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, birdwatching, reading, and studying the history of the Western United States.
Jessy Nye is survived by her step-daughter, Joan Nye Stacer, of Olympia, Washington; step-granddaughter, Kathleen Stacer Halgat, and great step-granddaughter, Monique Kathleen Halgat, both of LaMesa, California; one nephew, Frank Eugene Hall III, of Nevada; and one niece Kathleen Nye Smith, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Nye; and by a brother, Frank Eugene Hall, Jr.
The family requests that relatives in the Faurot, Hall, and Nye families contact either Eckersell Funeral Home or Mrs. Joan Nye Stacer regarding disposition of family history records, photos, and other mementos.
