John R. Wheeler Dies; Served on Claims Board
John Rowe Wheeler, who once served on the German-American Claims Commission and later became a special attorney in the Internal Revenue Bureau, died Wednesday at Veterans’ Hospital in New York City, according to word received here. He will be buried tomorrow in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Wheeler, who lived in Washington for several years, resigned from the Army as captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Department in 1924. Since August 1937, he had been in the New York office of the Revenue Bureau, making his home in Scarsdale. He was a member of the Barristers Lodge and of Almas Temple.
His widow, Mrs. Ida Mae Wheeler, and a daughter, Mrs. C. W. Flenicken, Jr., survive.
