Katherine Alice Gladhart, born in Cambridge, Idaho on December 11, 1925, died on March 6th, 2011 in Boise.
Katherine was the fifth child of Mary Alma Kennedy and Peter Michael Gladhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents along with her four siblings, Edith Gissel, PR “Russ” Gladhart, Con Gladhart, and Dave Gladhart.
She is survived by a niece and six nephews, Mary Gladhart Gentry, of Olympia, Washington; Conrad Gissel of Rathdrum, Idaho; Norman Gissel, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Peter Gladhart, of Dayton, Oregon; Chad Gladhart, of Spokane, Washington; Michael Gladhart, of Bellingham, Washington; James C. Gladhart, of Eagle, Idaho, along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
Katherine earned a nursing degree from St. Luke’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington. She spent her entire professional career at the VA Hospital in Boise, Idaho.
She was particularly fond of her great-nieces and nephews whom she visited often and always remembered on their birthdays. She greatly enjoyed travel, both in the United States and Canada, as well as abroad. Her pets and flowers were a great joy to her when she lived in her own home. She was a voracious reader. For many years she was active in the First Baptist Church.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 on Thursday, April 28th at Summers Funeral Home located at 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise followed by interment of her ashes in the Payette Cemetery, later in the day.
Memorial gifts may be made to Boise First Baptist Church for its summer campership program, to Legacy Hospice, 680 South Progress Avenue, Suite A, Meridian, Idaho, 83642, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
