Lola M. (Marler) Poirier, 89, a resident of Raynham for the past 56 years, died Wednesday evening at home under the care of her family. She was the wife of the late Leo Poirier and a longtime friend of the late Ray McInnis.
Born in Emmett, Idaho, a daughter of the late George W. and Aileen E. (McProud) Marler, she was raised in Idaho and was a graduate of Weiser High School and attended Boise Business School.
Lola met her late husband Leo during WWII in Boise, Idaho and moved to Taunton in August of 1995 where they resided until 1956 moving to Raynham. Lola was employed by the Town of Raynham for 23 years as an executive secretary to the Superintendent of the Raynham Public Schools. A communicant of Holy Cross Church in Easton, her hobbies included ballroom dancing at the former Roseland Ballroom in Taunton and aerobic dancing for the past 25 years.
Lola is survived by five children, Mary E. Keeler of Raynham, James M. Poirier of Taunton, Jane P. Hart of Westwood, John F. Poirier of Raynham and Thomas P. Poirier of Taunton; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four nieces and one nephew. She was also the sister of the late Ilah Debacon and George W. Marler.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton, on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, Easton, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton.
