Jan. 10, 1916 – Aug. 29, 1997
Lucille Gertrude Thompson, 81, died Friday, August 29, 1997, in Glendora, Calif. A funeral service will be held at the Glendora L.D.S. Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. with a viewing at 6 p.m. A memorial service will also be held at the New Plymouth L.D.S. Chapel on Saturday, Sept.6, at 9 a.m. Burial will be at the Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth. Funeral arrangements are being handled by White’s Funeral Home in Azusa, Calif.
She was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Cardston, Alberta Canada and she has been cared for by her children in Southern California for the last three years. Prior to that time, she and her husband lived in New Plymouth, Idaho, where they retired from teaching in 1976. Mrs. Thompson received an Associate of Science degree from Boise Junior College in 1963. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of La Verne, Calif. and taught elementary school in Walnut, Calif. for eleven years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, M.E. “Tom” Thompson, now residing in Fallbrook, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Pat Thompson of Oakland, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Janet Thompson of Santa Clarita, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Donna Thompson of Fallbrook, Calif.; and daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Dennis Reber of Glendora, Calif.; sister, LaPriel Stephan of Anchorage, Alaska; and 26 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
