MERLIN C. ALDRED –  Graveside services will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery for Merlin Chandler Aldred, 74, who died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997. Born April 3, 1922, in Weiser, Idaho, Mr. Aldred had lived in Clark County for seven years. A retired pilot for United Airlines, Mr. Aldred was a B-24 pilot during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was a 1947 graduate of the University of Idaho, where he played basketball, football, and track.
He was a teacher and a coach who enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Arda, at home; one son, John, of Reno, Nev.; three daughters, Beatrice O’Neil of Moscow, Idaho, and Susan Goldsmith and Nancy Barnett, both of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three brothers, Jack of Long Beach, Calif., Tom of Bend, Ore., and Paul of Vale, Ore.
