Nancy Daggett

Nancy Virginia McCord, 87, died May 23, 2007, at her home in Halfway.

There will be a celebration of Nancy’s life and a graveside memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception afterward at the McCord home.

Nancy Virginia was born on June 30, 1919, at Jerome, Idaho, to John and Margaret Maxwell Daggett. She was raised and educated at Weiser, Idaho.

After high school, she attended Whitman College at Walla Walla, Wash., majoring in general education and music. Nancy married Thomas T. McCord on July 2, 1938, at the Christian Church in Weiser.

Tom and Nancy had two daughters: Sandra and Sharon. After Tom returned home from Normandy, the family made their home at Council, Idaho.

They owned a restaurant at Council. Nancy enjoyed baking, especially the pies.

A few years later, they moved to Lewiston, Idaho. With Nancy’s gift for music she applied for a job at Mann’s Music Store. Nancy had a beautiful soprano voice and she enjoyed singing for the local churches and special occasions.

Tom and Nancy’s next move was to Seattle. Nancy worked for a time at the Bon Marche. They moved to Halfway after the death of their daughter, Sharon.

Nancy enjoyed her home, entertaining friends and family. She and Tom especially liked spending an afternoon fishing. Nancy was a member of the Carson Club and was always willing to play a game of bridge.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra, and her husband, Ken Francis; grandchildren, Nancy Jo Tilton and Mathew Francis; and great-grandchildren, Rachael, Rebekah, Maxwell and Ethan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, who died in February of 2007; her daughter, Sharon, who was killed in an automobile accident on Mercer Island Bridge in 1976; brothers, Rogert Daggett and Birney Daggett Jr.; and a sister, Lida Mae Morrison.
