Nicholas C. Clabby
WEISER — Rosary for Nicholas Clabby, 77, Weiser, who died Sunday at a Weiser hospital, will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Northam-Jones Chapel, Weiser, by the Rev. Kevin McErdie. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest.
He was born March 22, 1896, in Oconto County, Neb., the son of John and Catherine Meagher Clabby. As a small child, he moved to Weiser with his parents, where he attended schools and graduated from Weiser High School in 1914.
During World War I, he served with the Navy. He married Mabel Van Sice at Weiser July 3, 1928. For several years, he and a brother, Neal, operated automobile dealerships in both Weiser and Ontario. During World War II, he worked in the shipyards at Portland. In the mid-1940s, he began work for the Postal Service at Weiser, retiring in 1962.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society at the church, BPOE Weiser Lodge 1683, and a past commander of Russell Smith Post 42 of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Weiser; a son, William J. Clabby, San Diego; three brothers, Lou Clabby, San Francisco, Neal Clabby, Weiser, and Gene Clabby, Payette; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
