On the 20th ult. [September 20, 1893] C. H. Williams found Tim Collins dead in his chicken house. Judge Gray was informed, who immediately summoned a coroner’s jury to investigate the cause of death. The jury found no marks or wounds on the body and no sign of a struggle where the body was found, $20.50 were found in his house. Judge Gray took charge of the money, put a man in charge of the place and gave the body a very creditable burial.
The mines all closed down for the day and everybody went to the funeral. Mr. Collins was a native of Ireland, a pioneer of the western states and territories and an upright and honest man. The familiar salutation of “good morning,” will be heard no more in Mineral, for it mattered not what time of day, Tim always said good morning.
