Warren died quietly surrounded by friends and family on Sunday, June 15 in Weiser Memorial Hospital.Warren was born Sept 16, 1921 and moved to Weiser at age five from his birthplace in Nez Perce. After attending Weiser schools, he farmed and ranched with his father, then spent three years in the Air Force as a radio operator in WWII. Along with his fellow crew members, he successfully completed 27 combat missions in a B-17 bomber. These rigorous missions were flown over France, Germany, and Poland, free from the prison camp until his last mission on September 9, 1944, when he returned to the family ranch in Weiser and worked at Zeranski Jewelers, where he met and later married Donetta Domeny. Together they had four daughters.
In the early 50’s Warren began his 39-year career with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, starting as a fieldman. He worked his way to the position of County Executive Director. Over the years, he met and worked with many farmers in Washington and surrounding counties. Warren also continued in the farming operation of his beloved ranch northwest of town.
After his retirement in 1985, Warren enjoyed fly fishing, spending winters in Arizona, hunting, listening to his shortwave radio, and was an avid reader of mysteries and novels by Zane Grey. Warren is survived by his daughters: Deb (Dennis) Nyberg, Anita (Bruce) Anderson, Dana, and Linda (Jeff) Gaschen. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
