Weiser Museum & Fiddlers Hall of Fame

40 West Commercial Street between the City Repair Shop and the Vendome Hotel parking lot.
Started by Belle Emerick as part of the first National Old Time Fiddlers Festival in June, in Idaho’s Territorial  Centennial Year, 1963.
Belle was the guiding light in establishing the Museum and Hall of Fame, and was the Museum Association’s first President.
The Museum was across the street from Globe Furniture and the roof collapsed from the snow. Belle Emrick was the force behind the museum. Sam Emerick watched it collapse, and then called Belle to tell her that her museum had fallen down.
The damage was repaired and the Museum stayed in that building until 1980 when it finally moved to the Snake River Heritage Center, where it currently resides.

Fiddlers Hall to Reopen for Big Show
WEISER — The Pioneer Museum and National Fiddlers Hall of Fame, which was partially destroyed under the pressure of heavy snow last winter, will reopen in time for the National Old-time Fiddlers Contest and Folk Music Festival next week, Belle Emrick, museum director, said Friday. The building which housed the Fiddlers Hall of Fame and many museum pieces, was damaged when the room over it caved in from the weight of the snow on the roof. Since then the debris has been cleared and the Hall has been recreated in another building under the direction of Marvella Brown.
The Hall of Fame, with its pictorial record and mementos of great old-time fiddlers, will have a special zone for visitors in this year’s contest from June 17-20, the director said.
Several programs will be held in the museum.

‘Fame’ Hall Museum Set For Weiser

WEISER Mrs. Sam (Belle) Emerick has been appointed chairman of the Weiser Museum and Fiddlers Hall of Fame by Dennis Sheehy, president of the Chamber of Commerce and National Fiddlers chairman for 1963.
She reports she is receiving encouragement, cooperation and donations from people in this area. Mrs. Emerick has appointed her committees with Mrs. Ben Houchin, secretary and recorder; Mrs. Delbert Jackson, solicitor and Mrs. Charles Jackson, as assistant solicitor.
Sheehy said Mrs. Emerick has already made arrangements for the museum site which will be room three in Hotel Washington and that renovation plans are now under way. Paint for the museum has been donated by the Weiser Lady Lions Club and Sam Emerick. Mrs. Emerick is asking for volunteers for the job of painting. Use of trucks and a driver is being donated by Sam Emrick and they will move and install display cases and fixtures which VB Christensen is lending to the museum.
Anyone having relics of historical value to the history of Weiser, Washington County, or Idaho are asked to contact Mrs. Emerick. Space is also being reserved for books and printed articles of historical value. Sheehy said a section of the museum will be reserved for the Fiddler’s Hall of Fame where pictures of old-time fiddlers, fiddles, their history and origin will be on display. Persons lending or donating articles to the Museum or Hall of Fame will be recognized and each item will be labeled with the donor’s name. Mrs. Emerick will appear in centennial costume before many of the local clubs and organizations in an effort to raise funds and solicit help. Memberships to the Museum will also be sold to help defray expenses.
