William was born to John McDowell Jr (1799 – Unk. DOD) and Catherine Culp (1815 – Unk. DOD). He married Tabitha Ellen Pye in Pella, Boulder Co, CO. William’s grave is unmarked.

Respected Citizen Dead
A. McDowell, a highly respected citizen of this valley, passed away at his home, five miles east of the city, last Friday morning from illness. The deceased was 67 years old and came to Weiser four years ago from Colorado. Interment took place Saturday morning in the Galloway Cemetery. He is survived by a wife and five children: three sons and one daughter who reside near, and a married daughter, Mrs. Perry, residing at Hotchkiss, Colorado.
