Dr. W. Allexsaht
Private services will be held for Dr. William J. Allexsaht, 86, of 156 Caroline Road, Gowanda, retired director of clinical laboratories at Gowanda Psychiatric Center.
Dr. Allexsaht, who retired in 1965 after a 39-year career at the Center, died Saturday (Dec. 9, 1978) after a long illness. Prior to becoming a laboratory director, he was a pathologist there.
He served as a consultant to the Center after retirement.
He was a native of Latvia and came to the United States in 1906 when his parents took up homesteading in Idaho. He was a graduate of Stanford University and Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia.
Dr. Allexsaht was wounded in action in France, where he served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War I.
He was a past president of the Gowanda Kiwanis Club; a past master of Phoenix Masonic Lodge, Gowanda; a Royal Arch Mason; a member of the United Methodist Church, Gowanda; and the Erie County Medical Society; and the American Medical Association.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Lida Cornes; a son, Robert N., of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert V. Morrison of Williamsville; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
